Call for Nominations to the PIEA Board of Directors,
2009
The Nominations Committee is now
seeking names to be considered for President Elect,
Vice President, and Director at Large for
2009. Traditionally the office of President Elect has
alternated annually between K-12 teachers and college
instructors, in an effort to maintain fair
representation of the two areas. In following that
precedent, nominees for President Elect for 2009 should
come from the college and university level. The other
nominees may come from either area. Names should be
submitted by October 1, 2008 to Lex Youngman,
Chair of the Committee, at .
The President Elect serves a
three-year term - one as President Elect, one as
President and one as Past President. The Vice President
and Director at Large serve two-year terms that will
begin in March 2009 and end at the PIEA Business meeting
in March 2011.
Qualifications: Board
members are not in a separate category from other
members; they are simply photo educators who have been
willing to contribute their time and talents so that
PIEA can continue to better serve its members in their
professional and creative pursuits. The essential
qualification for any Board position is a willingness to
serve with their colleagues to:
• strengthen PIEA as a support and resource
for its members
• explore and implement ways to help members
become more effective photo educators
• guide PIEA’s growth as a truly international
organization
Duties: Contact the chair or
any of the officers for a current list of duties.
Process: Names of potential
candidates can be submitted in either of two ways:
•Nominate a person you feel would serve well
on the Board. That person must have agreed to serve
prior to the nomination.
• Nominate yourself. If you’d like to make a
contribution to PIEA’s mission, we encourage you to
submit your own name. Don’t be shy! Anyone who is a
photo educator already has what it takes to be a
successful leader.
Here’s how to nominate:
